I tried a few times, but only yesterday did I finally get lucky and my efforts got rewarded with several clear shots. Only through the lens did I see the original colours of its plumage – from the distance it seemed to be just a small, grey bird, while in fact it’s light brown, has a distinctive red spot around its beak and eyes and some yellow feathers in its tail.
My newest photo trophy turned out to be a European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis, or, in my native tongue – Szczygiel). Amazing, isn’t he? My birding fever continues…
