Finally, holidays!!! :-) For the next week, instead of working and sitting in front of the computer I will be hiking in Austria and exploring the Zillertal Valley in Tirol! Me and my photo camera cannot wait (and hopefully so does my husband... ;-) ! Please keep your fingers crossed for nice weather, so that I can come back home with lots of amazing photos and new material for The Creative Life! Talk to you in a week!

Let’s go back to the roots of the owl-design-trend. Do you know how it started? And why is an owl a must-have for every serious fashionista nowadays? The bird owes its popularity largely to my favourite fashion designer ever, Marc Jacobs, who has included it in his collections not only as a print for T-shirts, but also for as a motif for jewellery, bags and other leather items. What he started, other continues; e.g. Kate Spade, the famous New York bag and accessories brand, has come up with a serious-looking owl-bag and a slightly less serious-looking owl-purse – here they are: And here are a few more owl-bags, by different designers, all found at www.polyvore.com – enjoy, and go get your owl!
I think people can be divided into two major categories when it comes to washing – those who cannot live without a shower, and those who cannot live without a bath. While I admit that a shower is a quick and efficient solution for everyday use, I definitely fall into the other category. As every true bathing-lover, I experiment with all kinds of bathing salts, soaps, lotions, foams etc. This means that our bathroom sometimes turns into a fragrant forest and at other times smells like a fruit orchard ;-) And recently I’ve discovered a bathing cosmetics line which has the power to turn your bath into something yet different – the Dairy Fun line by Marba Cosmetics. Packed creatively into shiny jars and jugs, with a cute drawing of a happy looking…cow, Dairy Fun brings you the smells of apple-caramel, milk & honey, peach & mango, chocolate, raspberry yoghurt and a few others. An interesting break-the-routine idea for your bath or a cute gift for a fellow bath-lover! Remember how a few months ago I wrote about a fun T-shirt with an owl on it, by Kiss Therapy? I said that an owl is a great design motif, and apparently I am not the only one to think so! Judging from the Summer collections of quite a few fashion brands, an owl is becoming the bird to wear ;-) Let’s start with jewellery – both H&M and Mango have great owl-shaped pendants in their new collections, as shown below. Eye-catching, aren’t they? You just can't say "no" to those big, pleading owlish eyes ;-) So I decided to browse the net for other examples of “owlish” jewellery, and I found quite a few really imaginative and original pieces on www.polyvore.com . Here are the ones I loved most – pendants, earrings, brooches and even rings! An owl is definitely the bird of this fashion season!
When it comes to fragrance, my nose is very sensitive and very, very picky. Majority of brands – be it cosmetics, scented candles or home scents – do not appeal to me it all. Don’t get me wrong – I simply love beautiful smells - but it’s difficult to find one which would qualify as such ( at least in my choosy nose’s opinion ;-) But to my surprise I’ve recently discovered one cosmetic brand with smells that send my nose into happy-land; more than that – my skin loves them too. I’m talking about the French L’Occitane en Provence, a brand of natural beauty products on the high street. The L’Occitane boutiques are charming in a way which brings to mind rustic French country-side, permeated with lavender and other Mediterranean smells. The products – in original yet simple packaging – not only smell divine and are a pleasure to use, but also do bring effects – I can attest to it myself. I especially love the apple and almond line for the face, and the verbena summer line for body and hair. And have I mentioned that their product photography and ads in the catalogue and magazines is simply amazing?! Here are a few examples, and visit the L’occitane website to learn more. It has been a year indeed – exactly 365 days since I published my first post on The Creative Life!!! Honestly, back than I had no idea if the whole blogging thing would turn out to be something for me or not – but it certainly has. And while I do enjoy it, I really hope that the ideas I write about are a creative inspiration to all my readers around the globe – and will continue to be so for a long, long time. Let’s have ourselves creative lives! ;-) The end of Summer is approaching fast and the time comes when children and teens should start preparing for school. While I’ve never been very enthusiastic about the school year about to start – who is - I’ve always had a weakness for end-of-Summer stationery shopping. I especially loved (and still love) notebooks and folders with beautiful cover – be it graphics, nature photos or collages. So this year I would like to draw your attention to a Nature line of stationery by the Italian company Pigna – subtle yet cheerful, inspired by flowers of Spring, fruit of Summer and leaves of Autumn. Here is what you’ll find in the new line:
I’m on a look-out for shops in Warsaw which sell cute and not horrendously expensive home decorations, but so far I have found none. So while I continue my search, I’m also browsing the Internet and I fell in love with those charming and creative ways of storing knickknacks I’ve found on this website. I wish I had some stairs at home so I could use this ingenious basket from the photo on right-hand side – cute, isn’t it? Here are a few more ideas: Last weekend, true to my decision to keep exploring Warsaw and the surrounding area in search of something interesting, we went on a trip to the Kampinos Forest. It’s a huge forest area north of the city, and I’m sure it has many picturesque areas, but there is unfortunately no detailed tourist information available as to where to find them…
We went on a hike along the yellow route and discovered that Kampinos is also home to thousands of blood-craving mosquitoes, which make the entire experience less than pleasant – to put it mildly. I only stopped a few times to take photos of mushrooms, and for each of them I have at least 3 mosquito bites to show… I will give Kampinos another try in a month or so, hoping that the mosquitoes will be gone by then… In the meantime, here are the mushroom photos – you’d better like them, since I paid for them in my own blood! ;-) If you have a petite figure and want to put on something with a flair to defy the Summer heat-wave, I recommend this season’s collection by Promod. It’s subtle but original, as well as girly, frilly and simply fun. My absolute favourites are the 3 dresses I put in the first row, and you can view the entire collection at www.promod.eu
