Since I've spent a few days last week on the sea-side, it’s obvious that I also took a few photos of it. I think every sea is beautiful, and each of them has something special and unique to it – and so does the Baltic sea. Still, it’s actually quite difficult to take a good photo of a sea – much too often you end up with a boring composition of blue sky above and blue sea below, with the line of horizon splitting the picture in two clean halves. Here are my attempts at “ creative” sea photos – enjoy!

During my short trip to the Polish seaside last week I had a chance to visit a charming Ecopark in Kolobrzeg. It’ s an extensive area of marshlands turned into a nature park, home to a number of birds and other animals, with very characteristic lush and wild-looking landscapes.
Unfortunately the human visitors are limited to treading one main path only, which runs through the middle of the park all the way to the coast – but even with such a limited access you get to see some beautiful views and, if you’re lucky, spot some rare birds. Below are a few photos – the sun was shining really bright that day, and I swear these are not “photoshoped” colours! ;-) I've been away for a few days, getting a much-needed portion of refreshing sea air and beautiful sea views. And of course while on the coast, I got to see a few interesting places and stumble across a few creative ideas - which means I'll have plenty to blog about this week.
But before I sort through all the photos from my trip, here are a few cute photos from a weekend bird-photo-hunting expedition to the area of Raszynskie Lakes outside Warsaw - little greylag geese. Aren't they cute ?! ;-) It's a good area for bird-watching, but you need a really long lens to get a good photo, the birds are not very cooperative and prefer to keep their distance... So it's a challenge, isn't it? ;-) Have you ever heard of polymer clay? It’s a sculptable material based on PVC, called clay because its texture and working properties are very similar to those of mineral clay. It can be used for a range of creative hobbies, and it can be used for creating real art. The latter is what I think Kathleen Dustin does. Kathleen seems to be one of the most famous polymer clay artists out there, and she specialises in designing and sculpting…exquisite handbags and jewellery. I find her works really amazing – so full of details, so subtly feminine, so alive. And these are the bags you can actually wear - the result of the artist's deliberate choice to sculpt something people can acually use, not only put on a shelf where they collect dust. Here is Kathleen's newest collection of handbags, inspired by the elements of nature in New Hampshire, where she currently resides. You can read more about her exceptional works here, and below is a selection of bags from here new nature-inspired line. If you read the title of this post, you probably wander what is this irresistible Rutan. Well, it’s a… brand of cat food ;-) You probably haven’t expected such an answer, have you? ;-)
Why am I talking about Rutan? Because the company which owns the brand had a great ad poster made for it (by German advertising company Ogilvy and Mather). Cute, funny and original, it uses the resemblance of certain cats to an… owl. So, here it is: When Summer begins so do all the Summer parties, including Summer weddings. So if you want to go to one and avoid being dressed in exactly the same way as half of the other female guests, all you need to do is to find a creative dress.
This is, of course, easier said than done – I realise that. But let me recommend you one eye-catching collection in which I think there’s something perfect for everyone – the new collection by Monsoon. You’ll find here dresses suitable for every occasion, from a Summer evening grill party or a Summer wedding, dresses which make a huge statement or are a bit more modest – depending on what you like, and finally dresses flattering for every type of female silhouette. Here are a few which I like most, and you can view the entire collection here. Enjoy! Giraffe Kettle If you want to make boiling water a fun activity instead of an everyday chore, all you need is a creative kettle – such as the ones offered by UCIL at www.animalkettle.com. They might not be beautiful, but they sure are funny, original and eye-catching! Shaped as an animals (well, except the strawberry one) they can be a perfect splash of colour for your kitchen or a great present for a friend. I like thy giraffe one most, even though the cow one also has some definite appeal ;-) And which one is your favourite? The eco-friendly, back-to-nature themed interior design is definitely “in” right now. And I have to admit that some of the ideas it offers are quite creative. One great example is the collection called “ Living Stones” by Stéphanie Marin – a number of sofas, armchairs, puffs and cushions, all designed to resemble oversized pebbles with their shapes and colours. Take a look at the ideas presented on the photos below – very different, very creative, and apparently very comfortable! Now if only I had a house so big that I could spare one spacious room for interior design experiments like that… ;-) You can find more info on Stéphanie and her Living Stones here. I’m planning to go to the seaside for a few days next week and I just realized that despite my slight obsession with bags I do not really hale a Summer bag! I’ve published a series of posts recently about Temi and Braccelini bags, but of course they’re way out of my financial range :-( Actually there’s not much wiggle room in my current budget for anything, but maybe with some “creative accounting” I can splurge on one of the new Summer bags in the Accessorize range.
Here are the few bags I like most from the new collection – colourful, cheerful, creative and with a bit of flair, exactly how I like them best ;-) But help me – which one shall I choose?! My husband sometimes refers to me as his Squirrel. While obviously this has been inspired by the fiery colour of my hair, I’ve never been sure whether I find it more endearing or irritating – until now. Now, having actually seen squirrels in action up-close, I can tell you that I consider being called one very flattering! This past weekend we went for a walk to one of the Warsaw’s major parks (we = me + my husband + my camera with zoom lens), and I ended up shooting photos of squirrels. There are not only cute and pretty, but they move with incredible grace (regardless of what they do, whether it’s jumping, digging in the earth or eating!!!) and they look amazing on every photo you take of them. Every girl’s dream, isn’t it? Here are a few of my pictures, enjoy! |
