Since the moment I took a camera in my hands – and about 20 years ago when that happened, it was an idiot-camera Kodak, one of the big black boxes from the pre-digital photography era – all of my pictures were always sharp, in focus and exactly the way I wanted.
I could never understand why some people take ugly pictures or have problems with placing whatever they want on the photo. Honestly, I still cannot understand – to me it comes naturally.
20 years later me and my camera are still inseparable, only now it’s a much more professional one than the ancient Kodak. Regardless of what country I live in at the moment, I like to make plans for a “photo-trip” every second weekend – I choose a place (garden, castle, city…) I want to visit, I take my camera (and husband) along, and off we go… To my ever-lasting regret he (i.e. my husband) does not share my passion, but is wonderfully patient and understanding (well, most of the time anyway). So as a result I run around pointing my lens at everything, and he finds a quiet spot somewhere and settles down with a book.
There are so many things around us that would make beautiful photos, but I think a lot of people does not realize it. You don’t need to make a trip around the world to create a library of fascinating pictures. The potential for it is everywhere around you – you just need to open your eyes.
As part of the Creative with photos category in my blog I will give you some examples of picture ideas I’ve had – and let them be an inspiration to you.
