Over the years I managed to “temporarily misplace” a series of objects, from a variety of gifts (obviously you need to hide them), through clothes to jewellery pieces. (Actually, I think I should blame my mother for it, since I inherited it after her – and you cannot win with your genes, can you ;-)
So, to make a long story short, when we were leaving for our honeymoon last September, I hid my wedding ring. I didn’t want to take it to Bali since I was afraid to loose it. And yes, I hid it so well that’s it’s been “temporarily misplaced” for the last 6 months. Even my husband notice that it’s missing, even though it took him 4 months to do that.
I must say here that I absolutely adore my ring, a subtle white-gold band with an oval tanzanite sitting on top. So imagine my joy when finally – yesterday – I found it!!!
I was so happy to see it again that I decided to write a post about tanzanite; this is, after all, one of the most original and interesting gemstones. Everyone’s heard about rubies, diamonds, emeralds and sapphires, but tanzanite?
Those sparkly bluish stones were discovered only recently, in 1967, in the Meralani Hills of Northern Tanzania – hence the name. While most of them are bluish in colour – mine is of a beautiful pale baby blue with just a hint of purple - they can also border on violet or even burgundy – depending on the crystal orientation. It is extremely rare, mostly found in the foothills of impressive Mount Kilimanjaro. And it is, simply, beautiful – see for yourself.
