You can’t have Christmas without a Christmas tree, and yet since we’ll be spending the Holidays at my parent’s place, there was really no point in getting a tree for our apartment, at least from a reasonable point of view… And still, we felt that something was lacking, so I decided to make us a Christmas tree using the techniques from the floristry course. And – here is the result :-) Pine twigs are attached with a wire to a cone-shaped frame, sort of upside-down, and then decorated with classical reds and golds. An idea for those who don’t want to invest into a big Christmas tree, and yet want some Holiday atmosphere at home!
And in the spirit of Christmas and gift-giving, and to keep practicing the techniques I’ve learnt on the floristry course, yesterday I made two Christmas wreaths. We want them to be a pre-Holiday surprise for my husband’s family. For the first one, I went with the classics – red and gold colours, orange slices, pine cones, and a bit of rhythm created by the cinnamon sticks. Here is the result: For the other one, I chose a slightly different colour palette, with browns and greens, I used ribbons to create rhythm and resigned from adding any candles.
I hope these two will give you an inspiration for making your own Christmas decoration ;-) Our visit to the Christmas Markets in Berlin this past weekend was unfortunately accompanied by some nasty rain, so taking photos was quite tricky. One place when I could do it without any problems was the Magic Winter Wonderland created in the middle of KaDeWe, one of Berlin’s most luxurious department stores.
The entire place was set up to look like a winter park, with snow-covered trees, fountains, lanterns and sculptures, with a huge and lushly decorated Christmas tree in the middle. It acted as a background to the numerous shelves and tables with all sorts of decorations – fantastically-shaped glass balls, candle-holders, figurines and many, many others. See for yourself – a piece of Magic Winterland it was indeed! Hi everyone! I’m happy to report that I’m back from a trip to the Christmas Markets of Berlin, and that the weekend was great, despite rather lousy weather. I’m saturated with Holiday atmosphere, did all the must-dos of a Christmas market (including drinking several types of mulled wine, eating the famous German Zwiebelkuchen and just generally wandering around among the prettily decorated stalls). I’ll post some photos later, and in the meantime – since Christmas is now really just around the corner – for your inspiration, two interesting ideas for a Christmas arrangement, which I’ve prepared. Enjoy!
More wonderful Christmas china – perfect for your table, or as a gift for someone. Pretty, traditional, festive – what more can you want? I’ve found it here: www.spode.co.uk
I’m bursting with excitement since tomorrow morning we’re going to do something I’ve dreamed of for a long time – go to a city full of magical Christmas markets – Berlin – and enjoy everything such events have to offer. There’ll be lots of amazing mulled wine, original foodstuffs (Zwiebelkuchen – here we come!!), night photos with Christmas lights and decorations, and – of course – shopping!!!! I really, really cannot wait!! I’ll be gone for the entire weekend, so I won’t be posting for a few days.
In the meantime, here is even more Christmas charm for you, this time from the Holiday collection by my favourite Dutch designer Riverdale – they really do excel at creating warmth and festive atmosphere. Enjoy! Today I have for you an idea where to by all kinds of Christmas-stuff for your house, from tableware through decorative reindeers to gift wrapping - all to be found at Lakeland. It’s all very classic and traditional – with white and red colours and Christmas tree/reindeer motives, but after all, this is what we expect this time of the year :-) And Lakeland’s offer is just that – you can browse more ideas at their website, and these are the few items that caught my eye. Enjoy!! It’s so cold outside that curling up at home in something warm and cosy is becoming more and more attractive ;-) So here is a suggestion for you – a few pieces of comfy and Christmas-y looking home-wear from KappAhl. It’s also not a bad idea for a present, although probably for someone you know pretty well ;-)
