Since we’re already talking about freshening up your wardrobe for the Spring season, here’s another tip – dresses and other clothes from my favourite and very creative Dutch brand DIDI. Here are a few pieces I love, and you can find more at www.didi.nl

...or, more precisely, cups decorated with subtle bits of flowers. Classic, delicate, hand-crafted and elegant, these china cups by Royal Copenhagen are a great idea for an Easter gift or an addition to your cup collection. Or just nice to admire, since their design is an interesting one. The collection is called The Language of Flowers, and each one of them comes with its own flowery name. After all it's already Spring, so we do want flowers everywhere! ;-) You can find out more about them if you click here. Enjoy! Today is a pretty special day for me since it's my second wedding anniversary :-)
Some of you may think that being married for 2 years is not exactly a great achievement, but let me assure you, in my case it is. The only thing I'm not so sure about is what's a bigger achievement - the fact that I actually did get married and stayed that way for 2 years now, or that my husband is still married to me. I think the latter one - and that's probably because he's a very patient, understending, supportive and exceptional man - with the emphasis on patient ;-) But enough of this personal stuff! Let's talk about flowers today, especially that an anniversary always means (or at least should mean) that women get flowers :-) And once we get them, we need to put them into a vase, and that's where we can also get creative. Since floristry has become so pupular in the last decade or so, so have the flower vases become a popular object of interior design. Today we can get them in an amazing range of shapes, sizes, materials etc. And this time I've come across a website which offers some really intriguing designs - mostly modern, with emphasis on clean lines, but I find each of them pretty intriguing, even though I wouldn't put some of them on my table ;-) I think I like the first 3 best. And which one is your favourite? They all come from this website: www.yliving.com Today an Easter/Spring idea for cheering up your table - a new collection by Villeroy and Boch, called Farmer's Spring. I must say that the name seems to be quite accurate, with all the pastel greens and all these farm animals appearing here and there. It's delicate, subtle, rather classical in shape and design, and very optimistic - perfect fot this time of the year. Not cheap, but even one cup from this series may be a lovely gift for someone :-) You can find more about these here, enjoy!
So I'm not sure if I mentioned it before, but I've recently started a fashion-design course. It's a basic one for those who just want to play a bit with fashion as a relaxing hobby, which is perfect for me - I might be crazy about fashion, trends etc, but I can neither draw nor sew ;-) But knowing one's limitations is a good start, isn't it?
Our first project is to design a decoration/print for a white T-shirt, and here is my design. I'm not sure how it'd look like once I actually make it, but I hope it'll work... Right now I'm having problems finding a dark-green material, but hopefully I'll find something today. Keep your fingers crossed!!! I still can't say that the Spring has already began... Especially that only this past Saturday I woke up to a small... snow-storm, and snow-covered ground!!! Yes, the sun did melt it by the end of the day, but still. And while temperatures do get warmer when the sun comes out, they're still around 0 Celsius degrees during the night... So no, it's not Spring yet - unfortunately.
But every year, when the first warmer day happens, I get a strong impulse to wear something which simply screams "SPRING". Something with a flower pattern, preferably in warm pastels and flowing... Needles to say, I do put on something like this - and next time I go out I always get really cold. But you can't blame me for optimism, can you? And this year, I even made a few sketches of Spring clothes I would love to wear this season - inspired by a meadow - but would I be able to actually make them? And what about you - would you dare to design something for yourself? Today, in the spirit of Easter, I'd like to show you a few precious porcelain eggs from this year's Royal Copenhagen collection. I've already wrote about them last year, so this is just an updated look on what they offer this season. As before, the eggs are all delicate-looking, done in pastels and very Spring-inspiring. A great idea for an Easter gift or decoration, if you can aford it... I absolutely love the one with lilly-of-the-valley! Enjoy! Since I've already started the topic of Easter cakes, here are 3 more ideas for a major Easter cake creation, guaranteed to stun your guests ;-) These are 3 entirely different styles, and maybe you'll find one here which you really like. The first one I've found here: And the one below - a good solution if you need a smaller cake - comes from this webste: Can't imagine an Easter cake without a huge egg on top? Then this one is for you ;-) I've found it here.
When a handbag-crazy person like me thinks about Easter, what is the first thought that comes to mind? The answer is obvious, it's: "I wonder if there are any egg-shaped bags out there?" ;-) Well, I haven't really expected to find anything really eye-catching in this category, but to my surprise - I have. It turns out there is a very unusual designer in the US, a former Army Corps of Engineer, who designs exclusive, gem-studded tiny handbags, and one of the major lines are egg-shaped ones! Made from silver, gemstones, crystals and translucent enamel, each of them in itself looks like a handcrafted piece of unique jewellery. Even if they are not exactly up your alley, you'll have to admit that they do make an impression! This is the kind of accessory which screams "look at me, I'm here!" louder than any I've seen so far. :-) Below is a selection of egg-shaped bages from Vivian Alexander's website, and you can read more about him and his tiny pieces of art here. Enjoy! And since I seem to be on the roll when it comes to the topic of winter wedding bouquets, here is yet another one. This time I went for strong colours and bold form, as if to defy the sleepy winter atmosphere. Still, all the flowers used in it are available this time of the year. The arch-shape is a classic one, even though surprisingly many brides-to-be have not heard about it. I guess it's because all the wedding flowers catalogues nowadays are filled with complex, often futuristic and one-of-a-kind creations, which are always great to admire - the way art is - but not really ideal for a lot of brides. Anyway, the arch form is perfect e.g. for 20's style dresses or any dress with an empire-line, so if that's what you have in mind for your Big Day - this style will suit it really well. |
